Psalm 120

Gàidhlig

Salm 120

Am èiginn ghlaodh mi suas ri Dia,
  is dh'èisd e rium gach rè.
On teangaidh chealgaich m'anam saor;
  's o bheul nam breug, a Dhè.

Ciod bheirear dhut, no nìthear ort,
  a theanga làn de ghò?
Mar shaighdean laoich, 's iad geuraichte,
  mar èibhlean aiteil beò.

Mo thruaighe mi, gu bheil mo chuairt
  am Mesech; is mo thàmh
Am bùthan Chedair choigrich bhuirb,
  gu muladach gun dàimh!

Rinn m'anam còmhnaidh fhada bhuan
  le neach thug fuath do shìth.
Gu cogadh tha iad togarrach;
  air sìth 'n tràth labhras mi.

Psalm 120

Song of ascents.

I called to Yahweh in my trouble,
       and he answered me.
O Yahweh, save me from lying lips,
       from deceitful tongues.
What shall be done to you,
       what is in store for you, deceitful tongue?
Sharp arrows of the warrior,
       and red-hot coals!
My wretched lot is exile in Meshech,
       to live by the tents of Kedar.
I have lived too long
       among those who hate peace.
I am all for peace,
       but when I speak, they call for war.
