Psalm 1

Gàidhlig

Salm 1

'S beannaicht' an duine sin nach gluais
  an comhairle nan daoi,
An slighe fhiair nam peacach baoth
  na sheasamh fòs nach bi;

An cathair fanaid luchd an spòrs
  nach togair suidh' gu bràth,
Ach ga bheil toil do naomh-reachd Dhè,
  ga smaoineach' oidhch' is là.

Mar chraoibh is amhlaidh bithidh e
'n cois aibhne fàs a tha,
A bheir na h-aimsir toradh trom,
  gun duilleach chall no blàth.

Soirbhichidh leis gach nì dan dèan:
  ni h-amhlaidh sin do bhi
Na daoine peacach, ach mar mholl
  air fhuadachadh le gaoith.

Is uime sin cha seas a suas
  na h-aingidh anns a' bhreith,
No peacaich ann an comann naomh
  nam fìreanach air leth.

Oir 's fiosrach Dia air slighe ghlain
  nam fìreanach air fad;
Ach slighe fhiar nam peacach baoth,
  di-mhilltear i gu grad.

Psalm 1

Blessed are those
who reject the advice of the wicked.
They will not walk in the sinner's path
nor take a seat with cynics.
Instead they delight in the law of Yahweh,
and meditate on it day and night.
They are like trees
       that grow near a stream,
which bear fruit in season,
       whose leaves never wither,
       whose plans always prosper.
Not so the wicked,
       driven like wind-blown chaff.
The wicked will not stand firm at the judgement,
nor sinners be able to meet with the just.
Yahweh guards the path of the just
but the path of the wicked is doomed.
