Psalm 124

Gàidhlig

Salm 124

Nis abradh Israel gu fìor,
  Mur biodh Iehòbhah leinn;
Mur biodh Iehòbhah as ar leth,
  tràth dh'èirich daoine rinn;

'N sin dhèante leo ar slugadh beò,
  'n tràth las an corraich rinn.
Is ruitheadh tharainn tuiltean bras',
  sruth làidir thar ar ceann.

'N sin rachadh thar ar n-anam bochd,
  na tuiltean àrd' gu lèir.
Moladh do Dhia, nach tug e sinn
  mar chreich dam fiaclan geur'.

Mar eun à lìon an eunadair,
  ar n-anam truagh chaidh as;
Bhriseadh an lìon is sgaoileadh e,
  is shaoradh sinn gu cas.

Ar còmhnadh tha 's ar cuideachadh
  an ainm Iehòbhah thrèin;
An neach a rinn an talamh fòs,
  's a chruthaich nèamh nan speur.

Psalm 124

Song of ascents. Of David.

If Yahweh had not been for us,
       (let Israel say it again!)
if Yahweh had not been for us,
       when we were attacked,
when anger flared up against us,
       we would have been swallowed whole.
The flood would have drowned us;
       the torrent would have swept above us;
       raging rapids would have swept us away.
Praise be to Yahweh,
       who would not let us be torn apart.
We escaped like a bird
       from the fowler's net;
the net has been broken
       and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of Yahweh,
       who made heaven and earth.
