Psalm 84

Salm 84

Cia mòr an airidh-ghràidh do theach,
  Iehòbhah mhòir nan sluagh!
Cia taitneach dhòmhsa d'àros naomh,
  O Thighearna nam buadh!

Tha m'anam fann, aig meud a mhiann
  air cùirtean Dhè gach lò;
Mo chrìdh' is m'fheoil ri sgairteachd chruaidh
  'n geall air an Dia tha beò.

Feuch fhuair an siud an gealbhan beag
  taigh-còmhnaidh math na fheum,
'S an gòbhlan-gaoithe mar an ceudn'
  do sholair nead dhi fhèin.

Is taisgidh i an sin a h-eòin,
  's a h-àlach beag gun chlì;
Aig d'altair fhèin, O Dhia nan sluagh,
  mo Thighearn, is mo Rìgh.

'S beannaicht' an dream an còmhnaidh tha
  ad àros naomh, a Dhè,
Oir bheir iad (mar as cubhaidh dhaibh)
  mòr-mholadh dhut gach rè.

'S beannaicht' an dùine sin ga bheil
  annads' a neart gach là;
An dream ga bheil nan cridhe staigh
  do shlighe fhèin a-ghnàth.

An dream sin tre ghleann Baca thèid,
  nì tobair ann, nam feum;
Is lìonaidh 'n t-uisge thig a-nuas
  na sluic gu ruig am bèil.

Sìor ghluaisidh iad mar sin gun sgìos,
  a' dol o neart gu neart;
An Sion nochdar iad fa-dheòidh
  an làthair Dhè nam feart.

O Dhia nan sluagh, cluinn m'ùrnaigh fhèin,
  Dhè Iàcoib, èisd gu grad.
O Dhia ar sgiath, feuch 's amhairc air
  gnùis d'ungaidh fhèin gun stad.

'S fheàrr là ad chùirt na mìle là;
  b'fheàrr leam bhith dorsaireachd
An àros Dhè, na 'm chòmhnaidh fòs
  am pàillean aingidheachd.

Oir 's grian 's is sgiath Iehòbhah Dia,
  is bheir e gràs is glòir;
'S cha chùm e math air bith on dream
  ghluaiseas gu dìreach còir.

O Thighearn is a Dhia nan sluagh,
  is beannaicht' e gun cheist,
An duine sin, gu muinghinneach,
  don dòchas thu am feasd.

Psalm 84

For the choirmaster. On the … of Gath. Of the sons of Korah. Psalm.

How lovely is your dwelling-place,
       O Yahweh of Hosts!
With all my being I yearn and long
       for the courts of Yahweh.
My whole being sings for joy
       to the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home,
       and the swallow has made a nest
       for her young,
near your altar, O Yahweh of Hosts,
       my King and my God.
Blessed are they who live in your house,
       they are always praising you.
Blessed are they
       who have you for their strength,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they go through the Valley of Balsam
       Yahweh makes it a place of springs;
       the early rains fill it with pools.
They go from strength to strength
       and God shows himself to them in Zion.
O Yahweh, God of Hosts, hear my prayer;
       O God of Jacob, listen to me.
Behold our shield, O God,
       show favour to your anointed one.
One day in your courts
       is better than a thousand spent elsewhere;
I would rather live in the porch of God's house
       than live in the tents of the wicked;
for Yahweh God is a sun and a shield;
       Yahweh bestows grace and glory.
He refuses nothing good
       to those who live a blameless life.
O Yahweh Almighty,
       blessed are they who trust in you.
