Psalm 48

Gàidhlig

Salm 48

Is mòr Iehòbhah, Dia nam feart,
  an cathair àird ar Dia;
Is air sliabh àrd a naomhachd fhèin,
  ionmholta chaoidh an Triath.

Beinn Shioin 's brèagh' a suidheachadh,
  aoibhneas gach fearainn i;
Is dlùth dhi air an taobh mu thuath,
  tha cathair an Ard-Rìgh.

Aithnichear Dia an lùchairtean,
  mar thèarmann anns gach airc.
Oir feuch, tràth bha na rìghrean cruinn,
  le chèile ghabh iad thart'.

Chunnaic iad siud, is b'ioghnadh leo,
  le cabhaig dheifrich as.
Ghlac eagal iad an sin, is pian,
  mar mhnaoi ri saoth'r gu cas.

Cabhlach Tharsuis le gaoith an ear,
  mìn-bhrisear leat gu luath.
Mar chual, is amhlaidh chunnaic sinn,
  am baile Rìgh nan sluagh.

Am bail' ar Dè; 's e Dia gu bràth
  nì daingeann e le neart.
Ad theampall, air do choibhneas caomh,
  Dhia, smaoinich sinn gu ceart.

Mar d'ainm, is amhlaidh sin do chliù,
  gu crìch na talmhainn tha;
Do dheaslàmh làn de fhìreantachd,
  Dhia, anns gach beairt a-ghnàth.

Beinn Shioin guma aoibhinn i,
  is Nighean Iùdah ait,
Airson do bhreitheanas, a Dhè,
  tha cothromach is ceart.

Siùbhlaidh mu thimcheall Shioin naoimh,
  is cuairtchibh i maraon;
Airmhibh a baidealan gu dlùth,
  's a turaidean, gach aon.

Thugaibh fa-near a bàbhain bhrèagh',
  's a caisteil àrd' le beachd;
Chum sin gun cuireadh sibh an cèill
  don àl a tha ri teachd.

Oir 's e an Dia seo fhèin ar Dia
  gu sìorraidh is gu bràth;
'S e fòs a stiùras sinn gu ceart
  gu uair is àm ar bàis.

Psalm 48

Song. Psalm. Of the sons of Korah.

Great is Yahweh
       and most worthy of praise
in the city of our God,
       the holy hill.
Beautiful and lofty,
       the joy of all the earth,
is Zion, mountain of the north,
       the Great King's city.
God, in her palaces,
       has shown he is her stronghold.
The alliance of kings
       advanced in force;
they looked and were astounded;
       they fled in panic.
Trembling seized them
       like women in labour.
Like ships of Tarshish
       in the east wind, you wrecked them.
What we had heard,
       we saw for ourselves
in the city of God,
       of Yahweh of Hosts,
which God makes secure forever.
O God, within your Temple
       we reflect on your faithful love.
Your name and praise, O God,
       reach through all the world;
your power is full of justice.
Mount Zion is glad,
Judah's daughters rejoice,
       because of your judgements.
Walk through Zion,
       go right round her,
       and count her towers,
admire her ramparts,
       and look at her palaces.
Tell future generations,
that such is God,
       our eternal God,
our guide forever.
